WHAT IT IS

Malibu Moves started as one weekend at Zuma Beach. For a lot of you it has become the thing you come back to.

The Zuma Club is how we mark that. Six medals, each one carrying a piece of this coastline. A magnet on every edge so they lock together. Finish the set and you are holding the word MALIBU, built one October at a time.

The artwork does not stop at the edges. Line them up and the Malibu sign finishes itself across two medals, the water carries from one to the next, and six separate pieces turn into one.

Three rules. That is the whole thing.

  • Miss a year, lose nothing

    Your years do not have to be back to back. Take a season off and your letters wait for you. Come back and you pick up exactly where you left off.

  • Every distance counts

    Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, Zuma Dash, Kids Run. A seven-year-old building a collection at the 1K counts the same as a Half Marathon finisher.

  • Earned at the finish line

    You collect your letter when you cross, not when you register. Same as every other medal we put around a neck at Zuma Beach.

Founding Mover is different, and it is forever.

If you ran the first annual in 2024 you are a Founding Mover. That status does not expire and it does not depend on coming back. It comes with something set aside for you every year. The hat in 2025. The gaiter in 2026.

Founding Movers collect Zuma Club letters too. The two run alongside each other. One is where you have been. The other is what you are building.

Your Questions, Answered

  • No. That is the point. Run 2026, skip 2027 and 2028, come back in 2029 and you pick up the next letter. Nothing expires.

  • One. Everyone returning in 2026 starts at M together. If you ran 2024 you are also a Founding Mover, which is its own permanent recognition and comes with something every year.

  • Yes. Every distance counts the same, including the 1K Kids Run and the 1 Mile Zuma Dash.

  • Letters are earned at the finish line, not at registration. If you cannot run, your collection simply waits for you the following year.
