Our worry-free policy allows you to register early for the best price with total peace of mind. While processing fees are non-refundable, your entry fees and add-ons are protected as follows:

• Through June 30: 100% Refund or FREE Deferral

• July 1–31: 70% Refund or FREE Deferral

• August 1–31: 50% Refund or $15 Deferral Fee

• Sept 1–Oct 15: No Refund | $25 Deferral Fee

• Oct 16–Oct 24: No Refund | $50 Deferral Fee

Note: All deferrals are valid for the 2027 race season. Donations, charity entries, store purchases, and bib-by-mail (after mailing date) are non-refundable. Virtual entries are non-deferrable.

You can request a refund by logging into your RunSignup account, navigating to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Request a Refund located at the top of the page.

The deadline to request a refund is August 31st, in accordance with our cancellation policy.

After this date, refunds are no longer available—but you can still:
✔️ Defer your entry
✔️ Downgrade to a shorter distance or switch to a virtual one
✔️ Transfer your registration to another participant

If you can no longer participate in 2026, you can defer your registration to the 2027 event through your RunSignup profile.

How to Defer:

1. Log into your Profile > Upcoming Events.

2. Select Manage Registration > Defer Registration (located in the top menu).

Deferral Fees & Deadlines: Fees are based on the date you request the deferral:

• Through July 31, 2026: FREE

• August 1 – August 31: $15

• Sept 1 – Oct 15: $25

• Oct 16 – Oct 24: $50

Additional Options: If you aren't ready to defer to next year, you can also:

• Downgrade to a shorter distance or switch to a virtual one.

• Transfer your registration to another participant.

Note: All deferrals must be completed by October 24, 2026. Once a deferral is processed, it is final and cannot be undone for the current race year.

Participant-to-Participant Transfer Options:

Gift Transfer:

In a "Gift" transfer, the registrant gives their registration to another participant without receiving a refund. The recipient of the gift can register for free.

Transfer Request:

In a "Transfer Request," the original registrant offers their registration to another participant. Once the new participant completes the paid registration, the original registrant receives a refund. Both the original registrant and the new participant will be subject to standard processing fees by RunSignup. Additionally, any add-ons purchased during the original registration will not be transferred to the new registrant.

The cutoff date to transfer your entry is October 22rd, 2026. On September 1st a processing fee applies.

Yes, absolutely.

Start by logging on to RunSignup, navigating to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Transfer Event.

On the Transfer Event page, you will be shown your Transfer Information. Please confirm the information is correct and accurate. To transfer this registration, you must go through the registration process for the new event.  You can confirm Transfer by clicking on the "Start Transfer" button.

Important Notes: 

1. You are only credited the amount paid for your current event and you will be required to pay the difference.

2. If you are transferring to a lower priced event, you will not pay any additional fees. Additionally, the difference in pricing will not be refunded.

The cutoff date to upgrade or downgrade your entry is October 22, 2026. After that we’ll take care of transfers directly onsite during the Expo hours at the solution tent.

1K Kids Run and 1-Mile Zuma Dash participants, as well as anyone taking part in the Malibu Moves Coastal Quest, can pick up their race packet on Saturday during the Expo, anytime from 11:00 AM until 15 minutes before their race start time.

All 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon participants are required to collect their bib and race packet (t-shirt and tote bag) during the Expo, unless they’ve selected the bib shipment add-on or race-day pick-up option.

There is no same-day bib pick-up for the 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon — no exceptions, sorry.

In addition to packet pick-up, the Expo will feature merchandise for sale, demonstrations, and information from a variety of sponsors and vendors. It’s also a great chance to get acquainted with the start line location and parking. What’s not to love?

The event is open to the public, so bring your friends and family — there’s something for everyone!

If attending the Expo isn’t an option, here are three alternatives to ensure you get your race essentials:

1. Delegate: You can send someone to pick up your race packet on your behalf. They’ll need a copy of your driver’s license (a digital photo is fine) and your confirmation bib number email (sent the week of the race) to expedite the process.

2. Bib Mailing Option: For a $25 non-refundable fee, your bib and timing chip (attached to your bib) can be mailed directly to your home. This fee only covers the bib and timing chip. You can pick up your t-shirt and tote bag on race day at a reserved area marked with signage.

3. Race Day Packet Pick-Up Option: For a $30 non-refundable fee, you can collect your complete race packet (bib, t-shirt, and tote bag) on race day at a designated area, clearly marked with signage.

Select the option that works best for you and enjoy a hassle-free race day!

To add these options after registration log into your Profile, click "Manage Registration," select the "Add-On" menu at the top, and adjust the quantity.

Ample parking is available in the Zuma Beach parking lots, located at 30000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265. The parking rates for these lots are set by the County of Los Angeles Beaches and Harbor Department.

On Saturday, during Expo hours, you can park for free along Pacific Coast Highway to avoid parking fees at the Zuma Beach lots.

On Sunday, due to the course design, parking along Pacific Coast Highway will not be available during race hours.

Gear Check is conveniently located near the start/finish line, at the back of the Expo, and will remain in the same location for the duration of the race.

In keeping with Malibu's commitment to the environment and the city's ban on single-use plastic, we won't be providing plastic bags for Gear Check. Please use the tote bag from your race packet or bring your own. Simply attach the gear check tag from your race bib to your bag with the cable ties provided, or use one of our tags and write your bib number on it.

Gear Check opens at 5:30am for bag drop-off and closes at 12:00pm for pickup. Please avoid checking valuables, as gear is checked at your own risk. The race is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

When signing up for a Charity Entry you pay no upfront cost, and commit to a $500 fundraising goal by race day, and unlock exclusive benefits, including a special charity bib, access to the beer garden with unlimited servings, a VIP Package valued at $120, your name on the Charity Wall, custom badges for fundraising milestones, and top fundraiser awards.

The Coastal Quest Challenge is a two-day experience for participants who complete the 1-Mile Zuma Dash on Saturday and any Sunday race (5K, 10K, or Half Marathon).

Challenge participants receive three medals, two shirts, and complimentary Beer Garden access on Sunday. You can register directly for the Challenge or upgrade your existing Sunday entry through RunSignup.

If you can't make it to the Race Expo, you can select the Bib Mailing Option for a $25 non-refundable fee, to have your bib and timing chip (attached to your bib) mailed to your doorstep. This fee covers only the bib and timing tag. You can collect your race packet (t-shirt and tote bag) on race day at a reserved area, indicated by signage.

The cutoff date to order the bib by mail is October 5th, 2026.

If you missed the bib-by-mail deadline, no worries! Just add the Race Day Packet Pick-Up option for $30 at checkout, and your bib, shirt, and race packet will be waiting for you on race day—stress-free and ready to go!

All Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, 1-Mi Dash, and Kids Run finishers will receive a Finisher's Medal.

Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 overall female, male, and non-binary finishers in the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K. Overall awards will be determined by gun time, following USATF rules.

Age Division Awards will be presented to the top 3 female, male, and non-binary finishers in each age group for the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K. Age group awards will be based on chip time to ensure accuracy. The age groups are as follows: 19 & Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+.

Age group awards schedule:

• 5K & 10K awards: Starting at 9:00 AM

• Half Marathon awards: Starting at 9:15 AM

Special Awards will also be presented for:

• Top 3 Fundraisers:

  • Fundraising Hero

  • Community Champion

  • Spirit of Giving

• Unity in Motion Award: For the largest team

Join our Virtual Half Marathon, 10K or 5K and embrace the essence of Malibu from anywhere, at your own pace. Remember to log your results between October 24-26, 2026. Then, sit back and wait for your medal and shirt to arrive in the mail as a token of your achievement. Please note, packets are shipped within the U.S. and U.S. Territories only, two weeks after results submission.

All half marathon participants must be at least 12 years old on the day of the race. There are no exceptions to this.

All 10K & 5K participants must be at least 7 years old on the day of the race.

All 1K Kids Run participants must be between 4 and 10 years old on race day. Parents are welcome to run alongside their children in the 1K without having to register for themselves.

The 1-Mile Zuma Dash is open to participants ages 4 and up. Parents and family members of the kids participating in the 1-Mile must register for themselves. This ensures that every participant receives a race bib, commemorative finisher medal, and event shirt.

Both courses are designed with safety in mind, featuring clearly marked routes, cones, and friendly volunteers along the way to guide and cheer on participants.

At Malibu Moves, we offer pace groups for a range of abilities to ensure every participant has a comfortable race day experience. Whether you’re aiming for a fast finish or taking a more relaxed approach, you can expect pace groups ranging from 1:30 for experienced runners to 4:00+ for those who prefer to take their time and enjoy the course. The available pace times include 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, and 4:00.

No matter your pace, we welcome everyone to join and make the most of this exciting race day experience!

The iTAB is a small, custom-engraved plate that fits neatly onto your medal ribbon and features your name and official finish time — a beautiful way to celebrate your achievement. You can purchase it during registration as an optional add-on, or afterward by logging into your RunSignUp Profile → Manage Registration → Add-Ons → select “iTAB Personalized Medal” → Checkout.

If you purchased an iTAB, we’ll send your verified result times to our engraving partner within a few days after the event (once all results are finalized).

Please allow 2–3 weeks to receive your personalized iTAB directly in the mail.

Strollers are welcome in the 1-Mile Zuma Dash.

For the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, strollers are permitted provided the following rules are followed:

• Only 3-wheel jogging strollers are allowed.

• Participants with strollers must start at the back of the field.

• Yield to all other participants and do not weave through crowds.

• Stay to the right except when passing safely.

• Maintain a safe distance from others at all times.

• Keep both hands on the stroller while moving.

• Children must be securely strapped in; helmets are recommended.

• Exercise extra caution on narrow and out-and-back sections of the course.

Failure to follow these rules may result in sanctions under the Malibu Moves Code of Conduct, including restrictions on stroller participation in future events.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

We love our four-legged friends, but our priority is the safety and comfort of all participants.

Dogs are welcome at the Expo and spectator areas, and on the course only if they meet the following conditions:

• Must be leashed at all times (non-retractable leash, 6 feet or shorter).

• Dog must be accustomed to crowds, loud noises, music, and other animals.

• Owner must maintain full control at all times and clean up after their pet.

• One dog per participant maximum.

• Dogs must start at the back of the pack to avoid interfering with other participants.

• For everyone’s safety, no dogs allowed in the Kids Run event.

• Service animals are always permitted as required by ADA regulations.

Please note: Event officials reserve the right to ask any participant with an unruly or unsafe pet to step off the course or relocate to the spectator area.

Malibu Moves is a rain-or-shine event. We plan and produce the event regardless of weather conditions, and registration fees are non-refundable on the basis of weather alone. Please come prepared for all conditions — Malibu's coastal climate is part of the experience.

Force Majeure & Safety Exception In the rare event that conditions pose a genuine risk to participant safety — including but not limited to lightning, extreme heat, flooding, active wildfire, mandatory evacuation orders, red flag fire weather conditions, or any government-directed closure of the event area — the Race Director reserves the right to delay the start, modify the course, or cancel the event in full.

In the event of a full cancellation due to force majeure, registered participants will receive a complimentary deferral to the following race year. No cash refunds will be issued for force majeure cancellations. This policy exists to protect the long-term sustainability of the event and our ability to support our charity partners year after year.

Malibu Moves will communicate any delays, modifications, or cancellations via email and our official social media channels as promptly as conditions allow.

If you registered through the Charity Program, you paid $0 upfront and committed to raising at least $500 by race day. In that case, no refund is needed since your registration fee was waived at the time of registration.

If you registered through a regular paid entry and later decided to fundraise, your registration fee will be automatically refunded once you reach the $500 fundraising milestone.

A few things to know:

• The refund is processed automatically by the registration system.

• Please allow several days for the refund to appear on your original payment method.

• The refund will cover your registration fee, minus non-refundable processing fees.

• Do not request a refund from your participant profile. Doing so will cancel your registration and is not the same as the fundraising refund process.
