Challenge

  • The Coastal Quest Challenge is a two-day experience for participants who complete the 1-Mile Zuma Dash on Saturday and any Sunday race (5K, 10K, or Half Marathon). Challenge participants receive three medals, two shirts, and complimentary Beer Garden access on Sunday.

    The Coastal Quest Challenge is a two-day experience designed to make your Malibu Moves weekend even more memorable.

    You’ll run or walk the 1-Mile Zuma Dash on Saturday, then complete the 10K on Sunday.

    You’ll receive three finisher medals, two exclusive race shirts, and unlimited access to the post-race Beer Garden on Sunday, included at no additional cost.

  • Our worry-free policy allows you to register early for the best price with total peace of mind. While processing fees are non-refundable, your entry fees and add-ons are protected as follows:

    • Through June 30: 100% Refund or FREE Deferral

    • July 1–31: 70% Refund or FREE Deferral

    • August 1–31: 50% Refund or $15 Deferral Fee

    • Sept 1–Oct 15: No Refund | $25 Deferral Fee

    • Oct 16–Oct 24: No Refund | $50 Deferral Fee

    Note: All deferrals are valid for the 2027 race season. Donations, charity entries, store purchases, and bib-by-mail (after mailing date) are non-refundable. Virtual entries are non-deferrable.

Course Map

Experience the beauty of the Malibu coast with a rewarding challenge that starts and finishes at the iconic Zuma Beach.

The USATF-measured 10K course takes you on an out-and-back journey along the breathtaking Pacific Coast Highway, featuring gentle rolling hills that add just the right amount of challenge.

The course is mostly flat with a gradual incline around mile 4, peaking at 118 feet before a steady descent back to the finish. The course starts at 27 feet elevation and features a total gain of 138 feet, offering mild rolling hills ideal for both new and experienced runners.

Prepare for this adventure by adding hill training to your routine, ensuring you have the strength and confidence to conquer the course’s undulations and enjoy every moment.

  • Along the course, there will be 2 water stations with water and electrolytes. The turnaround point is at mile 4.5.

    For safety reasons, all water stations are located on the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway. Outbound runners will need to cross inbound runners' traffic to reach the aid stations and are asked to yield to inbound runners when possible.

  • Restrooms are located at every water station.

  • Basic First AID will be available at all water stations and at the Finish Line.

  • For safety reasons, all water stations are located on the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway. Outbound runners will need to cross inbound runners' traffic to reach the aid stations and are asked to yield to inbound runners when possible.

  • Your course starts and ends at Zuma Beach, taking you along Pacific Coast Highway to Lechuza Beach and back. Along the way, you'll encounter gentle rolling hills and some of Malibu's most iconic landmarks.

    • Lechuza Beach: A hidden gem offering picturesque views and a serene atmosphere.
