Thank you for joining us for the third annual IPS Malibu Moves, presented by Rusnak. We’ll see you at Zuma Beach.

Before you go

  • Look up your bib number

    Find your number before you head to the Expo so you can go straight to the right pickup line. If it isn’t showing yet, numbers haven’t been assigned. Check back closer to race weekend.

  • Pick up your bib on Saturday

    Every participant collects their bib, shirt and race packet at the Expo on Saturday, October 24, from 11 AM to 5 PM, unless you have purchased Bib Shipment, Race Day Packet Pick-Up, or The VIP Package. See Packet pickup under Saturday.

  • Arrive 2 hours early on Sunday

    There’s one entrance to the Zuma Beach lots and traffic builds quickly. Half Marathon: arrive by 6:00 AM. 10K and 5K: arrive by 6:30 AM. Carpool with your fellow Movers if you can.

  • Bring your own gear bag

    Malibu bans single-use plastic, so we don’t hand out plastic bags at gear check.

    Use the tote from your race packet or bring your own.

SATURDAY

OCT 24

  • Pick up your bib, shirt and race packet at the Expo. Look up your bib number first so you can go straight to the right line.

    Sending someone in your place? Send them with a copy of your driver’s license or ID. A photo on their phone is fine.

    Can’t make it on Saturday? Add Race Day Packet Pick-Up for $30 in your RunSignUp Profile by October 21 (Profile > Manage Registration > Add-Ons > Race Day Packet Pick-Up), or pay $35 at the Solutions tent on race morning. It’s already included with the VIP Package and every Charity entry.

    Chose Bib By Mail? Your bib ships October 6. If it hasn’t arrived by race day, visit the Solutions tent and we’ll have a replacement ready. Your shirt and race packet will be waiting for you at pickup.

  • For kids ages 4 to 10, and parents are welcome to run alongside. The course is lined with cones, and volunteers along the way guide and cheer every runner. The Kids Run isn’t timed. Every child receives a bib, shirt and finisher medal.

    Kids Run participants can pick up their bib at the Expo until 15 minutes before the start.

  • Open to everyone ages 4 and up, running or walking. The Zuma Dash is chip timed, and every participant receives a bib, shirt and finisher medal.

  • Bounce castles on the sand, face painting, and Art for Everyone by Pepperdine’s Center for the Arts: collages, friendship bracelets, letters to first responders and the Community Story Wall. Open to all ages.

SUNDAY

OCT 25

  • The Half Marathon, 10K and 5K use self-seeded corrals. Look for the estimated finish time signs and line up where you fit. Walkers, please start toward the back. Your time starts when you cross the start mat, so where you line up won’t affect it.

    Half Marathon pace groups: 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45 and 4:00. Our Party Pacers run at the back of the pack to keep the energy up. Give them a high five on the way out.

  • Gear check is near the start and finish, at the back of the Expo, and stays in the same spot all morning. Attach the gear check tag to your bag and write your bib number on it. Hours are in the timeline above.

    Please leave valuables at home. Gear is checked at your own risk, and we can’t be responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.

  • Race mornings at Zuma usually start around 57 degrees and warm to about 70 by the finish. Wear something old and warm to the start line. Shed it before you go and we’ll collect it and donate it to Goodwill.

    Pack a change of clothes and a pair of sandals for the festival, check the forecast the night before, and wear sunscreen.

  • Pacific Coast Highway never fully closes for Malibu Moves.

    On Sunday, October 25, the southbound lane and shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway closest to the ocean are coned off for the race, from Zuma Beach to the Half Marathon turnaround at Nicholas Canyon, past Decker Canyon. PCH stays open, but expect delays from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

    The road reopens on a rolling basis behind the last participant. The Zuma Beach stretch reopens as soon as the last participant either returns to Lot 12 or heads north on PCH for the Half Marathon or 10K.

    The rest of the course reopens from Nicholas Canyon back down to Zuma as the last participant passes.

    The south entrance to Broad Beach Road is closed at PCH during the race. The north entrance stays open, and Sheriff's deputies will let cars in and out when it's safe.

    Officers will be directing traffic at Trancas Canyon, Guernsey Avenue, Morning View Drive and the Zuma entrances.

  • Spectators park in the Zuma Beach lots, the same as participants. The best place to cheer is the start and finish line. The VIP Lounge and the beer garden both look onto the finish chute.

    The course runs along PCH, so please don’t try to cheer along the route. That quiet stretch of highway is part of what makes this course special.

  • Dogs are welcome at the Expo and in spectator areas. On the course, your dog must be on a non-retractable leash of 6 feet or shorter, comfortable with crowds and noise, and under your full control, and you’ll need to clean up after them. One dog per participant, starting at the back of the pack. No dogs in the Kids Run. Service animals are always welcome. Race officials may ask an unruly or unsafe pet to leave the course.

Everything happens at Zuma Beach Lot 12. On race morning, enter from Westward Beach Road: the Zuma entrance on PCH closes at 4:30 AM.

Saturday, Oct 24

Park in the Zuma Beach lots at LA County rates, or free along PCH. Read the posted signs carefully: restrictions change block to block, and we can’t help with a ticket or a tow.

Sunday, Oct 25

Zuma Beach lots only, since PCH is part of the course. Enter from Westward Beach Road: the Zuma entrance on PCH closes at 4:30 AM, and the access road inside Zuma closes while the races start. Rates are set by LA County Beaches and Harbors; cash keeps the line moving.

Preferred Parking

$30 guarantees a spot in Lots 9, 10 or 11, closest to the start and finish. It usually sells out before race weekend. Print the pass we email you and keep it on your dashboard; each pass has a serial number, and copies are turned away. No pass in your inbox? Email info@malibumoves.com.

Drop-off

Skip the Zuma lots, where you pay no matter how short your stay. Drop off at the Trancas Country Market lot, cross PCH at the Trancas Canyon light, and walk to Lot 12 inside the coned lane. Once the races start, please yield to runners.

COURSE

INFO

  • Half Marathon: 6 water stations. You pass 4 of them twice on the way out and back.

    10K: 3 water stations. You pass 1 of them twice.

    5K: 2 water stations, each passed once.

    Every station has water and Voli Wellness electrolytes, and all of them sit on the ocean side of PCH.

    Zuma Dash and Kids Run finishers will find water, electrolytes and snacks at the finish line.

  • You’ll find restrooms at the start and finish, and at every water station.

  • Half Marathon runners will find energy gels at aid station F.

  • Course support stays in place for approximately four hours. For the Half Marathon, that means keeping close to a 20-minute mile. If you fall behind that pace you can still finish, but once course support has moved on you’ll need to follow regular traffic laws.

    The 10K and 5K share the same window, so a comfortable walking pace gets you to the finish with support still in place.

    However long it takes, the music keeps playing until the last person crosses the finish line.

  • All water stations are on the ocean side of PCH, so runners heading out will cross the path of runners coming back. Please yield to inbound runners when you can. Parts of the course are narrow: stay inside the cones, leave room for others, and pass with care.

  • Your bib carries a timing chip that records the moment you cross the start and finish mats, and your official result is that chip time. The Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 1-Mile Zuma Dash are chip timed. The Kids Run isn’t timed.

  • Friends and family can follow you by text message as you cross the timing mats, with split and finish times for everyone they choose to follow. The service is free; standard text rates may apply.

VIP &

CHARITY

Every Charity Mover starts race morning in the VIP Lounge, overlooking the finish line. So does everyone who added the VIP Package, and anyone who registered with a regular entry, started a fundraiser and reached $500 by October 16. Lounge hours are in the Sunday timeline.

    After that, you can buy VIP Lounge access at the race store at the Expo on Saturday or on race morning.

  • Celebrate your finish with a cold local beer. A $10 wristband gets you unlimited servings, and every dollar goes to the Malibu Education Foundation, supporting programs in Malibu’s public schools. VIPs and Charity Movers are already covered. Bring your ID.

  • Every Charity Mover’s name goes up on the Wall of Giving on race day. Find yours before you head to the start.

MEDALS

  • Ran the Zuma Dash on Saturday and the Half Marathon, 10K or 5K on Sunday? Collect your Coastal Quest medal at the Awards tent in the festival area after you finish on Sunday.

  • Finished Mountains 2 Beach this year? When you cross our finish line, your third challenge medal is waiting at the Awards tent. We check both finisher lists ourselves, so there’s nothing for you to submit.

  • Back for your second or third year?

    You’re a member of the Zuma Legacy Club. Every year you return, you add a medal, and together the medals spell MALIBU. Collect yours at the Awards tent on Sunday. Only doing the Zuma Dash or the Kids Run? Pick it up at the Solutions tent on Saturday.

  • You were here in year one, and we recognize that every year. This year’s Founding Movers gift is a gaiter.

    Pick it up at packet pickup, or on Sunday at the Solutions tent. If you registered by September 30, look for your name on the Founding Movers backdrop.

AFTER

THE RACE

  • FinisherPix photographers will be on course. Wear your bib on the front so they can find you. If you opted in to receive your photos, FinisherPix will email you a link to view and purchase them.

  • Every Half Marathon, 10K and 5K finisher receives a finisher’s medal.

    Overall awards go to the top 3 female, male and non-binary finishers in the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K, based on gun time under USATF rules. Age group awards go to the top 3 female, male and non-binary finishers in each age group, based on chip time: 19 and under, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, and 80 and over.

    Collect age group awards at the Awards tent during race weekend. Awards aren’t shipped after the event.

    Special awards: Fundraising Hero, Community Champion and Spirit of Giving for our top 3 fundraisers; the Unity in Motion Award for the largest team; and the Resilience Hero Award for the last participant to cross the finish line.

    Virtual participants aren’t eligible for overall or age group awards.

  • Submit your result between October 24 and 25, 2026. In your RunSignUp Profile, go to Upcoming Events, choose Submit Virtual Results, enter your time and select Submit Time.

    Your medal and shirt ship two weeks after you submit, within the U.S. and U.S. territories only.

  • Mark your finish with an iTAB, personalized with your name and finish time and mailed to you after the race. To add one, log in to your RunSignUp Profile, choose Manage Registration, open Add-Ons and add the iTAB.

FAQs

  • Our worry-free policy lets you register early for the best price with total peace of mind. Processing fees aren’t refundable, but your entry fee and add-ons are protected:

    • Through June 30: 100% refund or free deferral

    • July 1 to 31: 70% refund or free deferral

    • August 1 to 31: 50% refund or $15 deferral fee

    • September 1 to October 15: no refund, $25 deferral fee

    • October 16 to 23: no refund, $50 deferral fee

    To defer, log into your Profile > Upcoming Events > Select Manage Registration > Defer Registration (located in the top menu).

    All deferrals are valid for the 2027 race. Donations, charity entries, store purchases and Bib By Mail (after the mailing date) are non-refundable. Virtual entries can’t be deferred.

    You can also move to a shorter distance or transfer your entry to someone else. See below.

  • Log in to RunSignUp and go to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Transfer Event. You can change distance until October 21, 2026. After that, visit the Solutions tent at the Expo.

  • There are two ways to pass your entry to another participant.

    Gift transfer: you give your entry away without a refund. The person receiving it pays a $15 processing fee to accept it.

    Transfer request: you offer your entry to another participant. Once they complete a paid registration, you’re refunded minus a $15 processing fee. Both of you pay RunSignUp’s standard processing fees, and add-ons from the original registration don’t transfer.

    To start either one, log in to RunSignUp and go to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Transfer to Another Runner. Transfers close October 21, 2026. After that, visit the Solutions tent at the Expo.

  • You can add the VIP Package, Race Day Packet Pick-Up, an iTAB and other add-ons until October 22, 2026. Log in to RunSignUp, go to your Profile, find the race under Upcoming Events, choose Manage Registration, open the Add-On menu, adjust the quantity and select Continue. After October 22, add-ons and merchandise are available at the race store on site.

  • In alignment with the Road Runners Club of America's guidelines, Malibu Moves advises against the use of strollers during races. However, in our commitment to inclusivity, we do not explicitly prohibit the responsible use of strollers. To ensure the safety of all participants, those who choose to run or walk with strollers must adhere to the following rules:

    1. Approved Strollers:
      Only 3-wheel strollers designed specifically for jogging or running are permitted during races.

    2. Starting Position:
      All participants with strollers must start at the back of the pack.

    3. Yielding to Runners:
      Stroller operators must yield the right of way to runners and refrain from weaving through groups of runners. Yielding includes providing a clear path for runners, particularly by avoiding cutting in on tangents or turns.

    4. Keep Right, Pass Safely:
      Stroller operators must stay to the right side of the course, except when passing. Passing must be done safely, with a verbal announcement (e.g., "passing on the left").

    5. Maintain Safe Distance:
      Stroller operators must keep a safe distance from other runners at all times.

    6. Control of Stroller:
      Strollers must be operated with both hands on the handlebar at all times. Running or walking hands-free is not allowed.

    7. Stroller Occupants' Safety:
      All occupants in the stroller must be securely strapped in. It is recommended that stroller occupants wear protective headgear, such as helmets.

    8. Interaction with Others:
      Stroller operators must ensure that occupants do not reach out to other runners, spectators, volunteers, or objects along the race course.

    9. Course-Specific Considerations:
      The out-and-back nature of certain courses and narrow passages can create additional challenges and safety concerns for stroller use. Stroller operators should exercise extra caution in these areas.

    Failure to adhere to these rules may jeopardize the safety of other participants and could result in sanctions in accordance with the Malibu Moves Code of Conduct. Sanctions may include prohibiting individuals from using strollers in future events.

    Remember, "Start slowly and taper off!"

  • Yes, unless we sell out. Register online here until October 21, or in person at the Expo on Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM, or on Sunday at the Solutions tent from 5:30 AM until 15 minutes before your start.

  • Help at packet pickup, hand out water, cheer on course or work the finish line. Volunteers get a shirt and a front-row view of race weekend.
