The California Double celebrates runners and walkers who take on two of Southern California’s most beautiful races in the same year.

Register for Mountains 2 Beach and Malibu Moves, and you'll earn a third exclusive challenge medal when you cross the Malibu Moves finish line.

It’s a celebration of endurance, community, and the California coast.

Challenge Race Dates

FAQ

  • There is no separate registration for the California Double Challenge.

    Simply register for and complete Mountains 2 Beach and Malibu Moves in the same calendar year. When you finish Malibu Moves, you will automatically receive your California Double Challenge medal at the finish line.

    During Malibu Moves registration, be sure to indicate that you are participating in the challenge.

  • Yes.

    If you complete a qualifying race distance virtually, your entry will still count toward the California Double Challenge.

  • To earn the California Double medal, you must complete a race distance of 5K or longer at both events in the same calendar year.

    Qualifying distances include:

    • 5K

    • 10K

    • Half Marathon

    • Marathon (Mountains 2 Beach)

  • No.

    Only one race per event counts toward the challenge.

    For example, running both the 1-Mi Zuma Dash and Half Marathon at Malibu Moves will still count as one race toward the California Double Challenge.

    To qualify, you must complete one race at Mountains 2 Beach and one race at Malibu Moves in the same caledar year.
